A few of our favorite Seattle restaurants. All of the eateries in the video are located in the Capitol Hill area, with the exception of Mee Sum Pastry, which is downtown at Pike Place Market. Coastal Kitchen and Glo's both have terrific breakfasts--another favorite breakfast spot is Skillet, but we don't have any video yet from that locale as yet. The coconut cream pie at The Pie Bar is perfect--they change the pies up though, so it's not always the same selection available. And we never go down to Pike Place Market now without grabbing at least 1 sesame ball each at Mee Sum Pastry (there are no places to sit, so you have to grab it)--we've tried sesame balls all over Seattle and the ones from Mee Sum Pastry are the best. Get more Tips here! www.destinationtips.com Seattle... Where Marijuana is legal. Home to the biggest Seahawks fans. But beware of these 11 things NOT to do there! 1. Don't Feed the Seagulls! When the gull-feeding tourist leaves, the Seattelites are left behind to be harassed and their cars pooped on. They see them as rats with wings. 2. Don't Wear Safari Gear. Apparently Seattelites are sick of seeing middle-aged tourists wearing floppy, khaki sun hats and act like sunlight is a toxin? Seinfeld put it best when he said; Today was a Classic Seattle day. It didn't rain. It didn't NOT rain." It's Green Lake, it's not the Congo. 3. Don’t pay to go up the Space Needle. The Space Needle is for suckers. With an addmission fee of $14, any true Seattleite knows that the Smith Tower - a local best-kept secret — costs half as much and has an equally amazing view of downtown Seattle. And you also cut out most of the other tourists saying ooh I can see Canada! (which you can't) 4. Don't try and find the view from Frasier's Apartment! try to find the view from Frasier's apartment. Hint: It doesn't exist. 5. Don’t be seduced by a tossed fish. The Pike Place Fish Guys have made a big business of throwing fish and it looks fun. But Pike place can be totally crowded on the weekends. 6. Don't go to Starbucks There are over a thousand coffee shops in Seattle, With a coffee shop around every corner, an Americano is always at your fingers — but Cafe Allegro, Seattle’s first coffee shop, has one of the best. Also try Cafe Lladro, Milstead, and Stumptown. 7. Don't Skip Brunch Check out Portage Bay Cafe - a Seattleite brunch haven, known for its organic ingredients and delicious American fare. 8. Don't forget to wear socks! In Spain and many other places in Europe wearing socks with your sandals is a total tourist move. But in Seattle it's more like the norm. 9. Don't Avoid ice cream. Seattle ice cream makers offer up all kinds of exotic flavors for foodies: lavender, beet, bacon, squid ink, mashed potato... Check out Molly Moon’s and Procopio Gelateria for some crazy flavours! 10. Don’t forget to research your beaches. There are nude beaches, gay beaches, kid beaches, illegal dog beaches. The beach at Denny-Blaine, for example, is a lesbian-hipster hangout once nicknamed Dykiki. 11. Don't forget a hot dog! Yes, a hot dog. Every New Yorker knows a pizza slice is the best way to end a night on the town. But every Seattleite knows a night isn’t complete without a stop by the local hotdog cart. For a true Seattle experience, make sure to pack on the cream cheese.

I'm going to give my top ten places to go, but I challenge all of you who live (or have visited) here to submit your own recommendations, as well! http://chris.pirillo.com - http://geeks.pirillo.com

If you love all kinds of weather then Maine is for you. Locals say in the year you get every kind of weather known to man and that instead of 4 seasons, Maine has 10. The environment is about as good as it gets, and Mainers are healthy people. Acadia National Park has got everything that a lover of the outdoors could ever need. The oldest eastern national park has hiking trails, large granite peaks, some of the tallest mountains on the US Atlantic coast. If you love you're food to be posh, then you won't be disappointed by Maine's Lobster, often said to be the best in the world. Although it's economy doesn't compare to states like Texas, it is still a beautifully relaxing place to live and is one of the best at caring for seniors. 4) New Hampshire Yet another New England state ranks high because the quality of life is solid in the Granite State. The crime rate is very low, the environment is clean, residents are healthy and it's health care is one of the best. But like some of its neighbors, the state could use some more things to do, but then again if there are too many attractions you do sacrifice it's peaceful atmosphere. It's economy is also strong, ranked 9th in the US in 2014, so there is money to be made. Overall New Hampshire has a very good balance, and balance makes for a good quality of life. 3) Minnesota Residents of the North Star State pride themselves on being nice, which helps explain why this is such a livable state year after year. Maybe it's the rough winters, maybe it's the renowned Mayo Clinic, but Minnesotans are a hardy bunch as this is one of the healthiest states. From the cosmopolitan Twin Cities to the rugged North Woods, the state has something for just about everyone. Overall it ranks highly in pretty much every category such as quality of life, economy, cost of doing business, Infrastructure & education. It is a good all rounder, and just like New Hampshire it has a very good balance. While there are states that offer a lot more & you can live much better if you have the money, states with a better balance offer a higher quality of life for the overall population rather than just a select few. 2) Vermont Sealing New England's dominance in this category, the Green Mountain State reveals the nation's lowest violent crime rate. Vermonters are again in excellent health, fit and trim, with good healthcare but also it offers some of greatest farmers markets in the U.S. Know for its excellent beer, cheese, and of course Maple products. The environment is pristine, and the state is welcoming and inclusive. No matter where you're from or what you're beliefs are, Vermont offers equality for everyone. There's no surprise that Vermont has the second best quality of life in the U.S. 1) Hawaii The Aloha State achieves a near perfect Quality of Life score, with the nation's healthiest population and the cleanest environment. Of course it's amazing weather & the fact that if you live there you're basically in what most people would consider paradise 365 days a year. Residents are protected by strong anti-discrimination laws, and you may never run out of things to see and do. Hawaii is all about just living, it's not the best place to start a tech company, or to make million in any industry, but it is recognized as the best place to live if you just want to live. Realistically you will most likely already need quite a bit of money to live in Hawaii, as it isn't cheap. But should you be fortunate enough to afford to live there, you may never want to leave.
